Our glass blasted finishuses crushed glass to present a finer, tighter grain. The resultis a super scratch-resistant, smooth finish that still maintains its overallgrippy-ness. This option is now available as an upgrade for all knives with plain titanium or micarta handles.
Our signature sandblasted finishuses sand to create an extra grippy finish that wears in with character (like your favorite pair of denim or the patina on leather). This is the standard, free option available for all knives with plain titanium or micarta handles.
Will you glass blast a knife I already own?
Yes, depending on the model!
If glass blasting is available for your knife, just fill out a Service Formto receive the service. Current prices and lead times for the service are listed there too.
Can I order a new knife with glass blasted handles?
You canplace an order using ourOrder Form.
How does glass blast wear in vs sandblast? Will I get snail trails?
Glass blasted handles will fade and wear more evenly over time than sandblasted handles. It is possible for the finish to scratch but it tends to be more subtle than sandblasted finishes.
Sandblasted handles tend to "pocket polish" around the edges and clip and will mark or getsnail trailsmore noticeably.
Most glass blasted and sandblasted handles can be refinished.
]]>Computer Generated Graphics (CGGs) were introduced sometime in the late 1990s on the Sebenza and Umfaan (retired), as the age of technology was really beginning to shine. Using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Machining (CAM) software, we were able to tastefully translate hand-sketched artwork into repeatable, machinable programs for the first time in our history. This opened the door for many series of collectable artwork knives for many years to come.
The list below is a living document, with information gathered from the best of our memories and with as manyhistorical documents possible! If youhave more information to share, please emailtimeline@chrisreeve.com.

Sebenza and Mnandi washers are "fit" parts, meaning that the tolerances around the pivot area are tight and require our technicians to fit the pivot assembly to each particular knife. This means that if you bend, pinch, or lose a washer, you must send your knife in to us in order to have a new pair fit to your knife. There are no exceptions to this rule, even if you live internationally.
Once your knife arrives at our shop, you can haveup to two total washer sets fit to your knife (one installed and spare), for just a few dollars. The turn-around time will vary depending on how many services are requested and how many knives are in our shop at one time.
To get started, please fill out a Service Form.
We will send out up to two sets of Umnumzaan, Inkosi, and Impinda washers upon request. Please email crkinfo@chrisreeve.com to make a request.
Unfortunately, we do not have stock of washers for most discontinued models. If you have a question about your particular knife, please reach out to us.
]]>First, open and close the knife, even if it's with both hands, to helplube up the pivot assembly. If you still cannot open it with one hand, double check your finger placement on the knife.
Make sure your fingers (especially your index finger) are not pushing hard against the lock bar on the other side.Slide your thumb along the chamfer, pushing forward rather than sideways on the bottom of the thumb lug...
The blade will pivot around to lock in the open position. It may take a couple of times to get the hang of it, but once you do, the action should be smooth.
If the action still doesn't improve after a bit of use, feel free to reach out to us for additional help!

The general public may order a non-serialized version of the Yarborough knife called the Green Beretdirectly from sbobet.
]]>While we do provide tools for you to maintain your knife, we do not recommendmodifying or re-assembling itoutside of its original configuration.
Select your knife on the playlist using the menuon the video player, or visit the formore videos.
Measure your hand and compare it to the images to help you choose a knife size. The figure is drawn using the measurments of the average adult male's hand, which is a 7.6" length and 3.5" breadth.
These instructions apply tothe Sebenza 31, 21, Regular, Classic, and Umfaan.
With the blade closed and the 5/64" wrench properly seated, loosen and remove the pivot screw. The pivot screw is the left-most screw on the front of the knife, toward the blade. Screws are always on the front of the knife and pins are on the back. Then open the knife to about 45°and use the wrench to push the pivot-pin through.
Pull the blade straight out, remove each part, and set aside. The blade assembly consists of the blade, 2 phosphor-bronze washers, and the pivot bushing.
Use a finger to hold the back body pins in place while you loosen the remaining body screws. Push the body pins out and remove the front handle face. Take note of what the inner handle assembly looks like. Use a paper towel to remove debris. Clean the pivot area really well, and if needed, use a drop of lacquer thinner or Windex to remove any remaining goo.
Insert the back body pin first through the back handle and layer the backspacer on top. Then insert the stop-pin and layer the stop sleeve on top. Finally, add the lanyard assembly back in. Note: Should you choose to remove the lanyard on the Large Sebenza 21, you must remove the lanyard pin as well.
With the wrench properly seated, tighten the remaining body screws to snug.Set the handle assembly aside.
Tap or massage the tube of Fluorinated Grease to ensure it is properly mixed. Put a tiny drop inside the blade pivot hole, then insert the pivot-bushing. Apply a small amount of Fluorinated Grease around the outside of the pivot hole to hold the washers. The small washer will go on the back of the blade, to accommodate the lock-bar, while the large washer will go on the front. Center the washers around the pivot hole.
Hold the front and back washers in place using your index finger and thumb. Disengage the lock bar with your other hand. Slide the blade assembly in at about 45 until the blade hole is aligned with the pivot hole on the handle and the lock bar opens up. Do not force the blade assembly in. If you're struggling, remove the blade assembly, realign your washers, and try again. Do not loosen any part of the handle assembly. Once center-aligned, insert and tighten down the pivot pin and screw.
Note: It's very important not to bend your washers. If you do, you'll have to send your knife in for service, since washers are hand fit to each blade.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us at crkinfo@chrisreeve.com.
]]>Canvas Micarta may darken over time, but it will not change the functionality of the knife.
If you are concerned about your handles darkening, you may send your knife in for a Spa Treatment and we will re-sandblast your handles at no charge, as long as your knife has not been modified outside of our shop.
]]>Our inlays are made from stabilized wood and profiled to fit precisely inside handle pockets, for a clean finish and tight fit. Each inlay is permanently bonded to the handle by 3M VHB tape, which is the same tape used to hold together cell phones and steel frame buildings, allowing the inlays to naturally flex as wood expands and contracts. Knowing this process will help you learn how to properly care for wood inlays.
Dry it if you can, but it's likely that you'll have to purchase replacement inlays. Send some pictures over to crkinfo@chrisreeve.com and we'll take care of you.
]]>Use a soft cloth to remove oils and dirt from the handle front. Move in the direction of the grain to avoid scratching the surface.
High carbon steels react quickly to moisture and acidic foods, so it's important to keep your Damascus clean and free from moisture. Gently wipe the blade usinghot soapy water and allow it to fully dry. Use a q-tip to applya very small amount of Renaissance Wax or a Micro Crystalline wax polish as an added protective barrier.
Dip a q-tip in a small amount of lacquer thinner to remove oils and dirt from the anodized graphic. Take care to move with the grain of the handle to avoid scratching the polished surface. Avoid applying lacquer thinner to the edges of the handle to keep the sandblasted color consistent with the rest of the knife.
Damascus patterns are made by forging or "folding" stainless steels and softer high carbon steel. To bring out the pattern, the blades are placed in an "acid bath." During this process, the more corrosive high-carbon steel is eaten away, leaving behind unique patterns. We then “seal” the blades using a museum-grade wax coating.
We can usually re-etch the pattern on a blade to bring back its definition. However, we recommend caution when choosing this route. Re-etching can only be done a few times and will shorten the life-span of the blade since the process involves removing material.
Note: We cannot re-etch discontinued models with Damascus blades since we would be unable to replace the blade if damage were to occur during the process.
If you would like to request re-etching or you are facing issues with your Damascus blade, please send your knife into our shop for service.
It's important to note that these tips are for maintenance - if you want hair-popping-sharp, it may be time to send it in for a sharpening service instead.
]]>If you are still concerned with the difficulties you are experiencing with deployment after trying these tips, you are more than welcome to send your knife into our shop for inspection.
